This week in parks...

Managed to get quite a few responses for interest in posing for Park Your Tattoo.
Thanks to those who recently posed!
I'm absolutely loving the tattoos and the various stories behind them.

This week, I'm currently booked for Wednesday around 4pm in Cabbagetown, nost likely around Riverdale Farm.

Still shooting

So I'm no longer loitering in parks (I'm sure the cops are happy to hear that), but I'm still working on Park Your Tattoo. The difference this time is that I'm coming to YOU.

Today I'll be at Church St. Village parks starting as of 10.30am.

Bringing the park to you!

So the first two "Park Your Tattoo" sessions were small, but HUGE on the fun & laughs.
I've since managed to take more tattoo photos, basically by cornering my tattooed friends when we're by trees & open air spaces. This seems to be working really well!

Going forward, I'm going to adopt a more gorilla shooting approach. Though loitering in a park for several hours is fun, people aren't big on structured schedules, so the yield is low. I'm hoping to be able to catch people on the fly the majority of the time, and do a few scheduled park sessions here & again.

Tuesday!

So Toronto is going through this wee heat advisory. 
The story is that tomorrow should be "cooler" (i.e. not +44 with humidity), so I'm still planning to be in Trinity Bellwoods park tomorrow evening. Heat be damned!

I'll be at the same location as last time: bottom of the hill by the off-leash dog park (The Dundas & Crawford park entrance).

I'll be thinking cooling thoughts and taking photos from 6.30 - 8.00pm.
C'mon down!

Trinity Bellwoods park, Dundas/Crawford entrance @ the off leash dog bowl.
Look for the ghetto sign. And bring your tattooed self!

Day one

So it wasn't super busy today (cause honestly, it was +34 with humidity), but a fun time was had regardless.

I'll be doing another evening/weekend session in the same spot - the off leash dog park - in Trinity Bellwoods park probably during the week of July 18th.

Just look for the fancy sign!

I'll be starting the Park Your Tattoo project this weekend!
I'm looking at the afternoon of Sunday, July 10th to kick start the project.

What park should I start in?

*knock, knock* Housekeeping!

Not that I'm a big fan of rules & stuff, but I just want to put a few things out there about the project:

1. Since we'll be doing photos in public areas, no severe nudity...if you wouldn't show that tattoo to your mum's bridge club, I'm gonna guess it's not right for public consumption.

2. Should you wish to show off your tattooed bits, message me first. I might be able to find a way to shoot it. But most likely I won't. Cause that's how I roll.

3. Hateful words/images/etc. Keep 'em covered. I won't photograph 'em. However,  I might give you an atomic wedgie for your neanderthal choices.

4. You won't be paid for your posing. Sorry, it's an art project. "Payment" is in the form of a digital copy of the photo of your tattoo. And maybe a hug. Or two.

5. Real tattoos only, please. Though I do love henna & temporary tattoos...

Park YOUR tattoo

I've been looking for a summer project & here it is....

Portraits of the tattooed masses in various parks around Toronto. Sounds simple enough, right? Later on I'll give it the 35mmMonkey touch & hopefully have an exhibit later this year/ early next year.

What I'll be doing via this blog is announcing the day, time and park I'll be shooting in. All you have to do is show up, sign a release, and have a few photos of yourself and your ink shot. Depending on the number of people who show up, your time commitment would be less than an hour 15 minutes. All who participate will receive digital copies of their photos.

Sneak previews will be posted throughout the summer, cause heck, why not?
